On the 6th of February 1952 Princess Elizabeth was informed of her fathers death and her immediate accession to the throne. Over a year later on the 2nd of June 1953 Elizabeth was crowned as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Australian Mint commemorated the Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) of both of these events with the release of a $100 and 50c Accession coin set in 2002 and a $100 and 50c Coronation coin set in 2003.
