Our 42nd monthly Numis Bid coin auction brings together a number of coin collections including a run of better grade, PCGS/NGC certified gold coins including a mint state (PCGS MS62) 1887-S Half Sovereign, a choice (PCGS MS65) 1915-S half sovereign, four mint state Victorian sovereigns and a number of later mint state sovereigns.

The pre-decimal proof section is highlighted by a complete 1938 proof set, one of just 68 sets possible, the penny and florin in PR65BN and PR64 respectively, both very high grades for this issue. High grade copper proofs are offered including 1955-Y, 1956-Y, 1957-Y and 1963-Y pennies in PR63RD, PR63RB, PR66RD and PR67RD respectively. Later date threepence from 1961 to 1963 are offered in PR67 while PR67 1956 and 1962 florins highlight the florin section, the latter very scarce.

The pre-decimal range offers a good run of later date copper with some high AU/low MS George V issues. Some of the later dates includes a 1951-PL penny in PCGS MS65RD, a 1961 Perth mint penny in PCGS MS64RD and a 1964- Perth mint penny in PCGS MS65RD, the last two are one of only three coins at that grade level.

The silver starts with some high grade threepence including a 1926 in PCGS MS65, sixpence include the rare 1923 in PCGS MS63 and a 1927 in PCGS MS65, both very scarce in their respective grades. The shillings include an affordable but mint state 1940 and some high grade later issues including PCGS MS65 1955 and 1956 shillings and a PCGS MS66 1958 shilling, all grade rarities.

The florins include better than average 1915 London mint and 1932 Melbourne mint florins. The George VI range is highlighted by a PCGS MS66 1943-S florin while a choice (PCGS MS65) 1956 florin highlights the Elizabeth II issues.

The decimal coins include a strong run of business strikes including 1986 and 1988 five cent coins in PCGS MS69, the same dates of ten cent coins in PCGS MS69, a 1988 twenty cent in PCGS MS69 and a 1988 fifty cent in PCGS MS69.

The decimal proof coins include a run of one cent coins from 1981 to 1984 in PR70DC, a 1983 two cent in PR70DC, a 1982 ten cent in PCGS PR70DC, a 1982 twenty cent in PR70DC and a number of later issues in PR70DC which will delight any decimal proof collector.

The Friday evening session offers a good run of affordable pre-decimal coins including an uncirculated 1935 penny. These are followed by a run of mint product including a year 2000 mint set and a 1994 baby set. These are followed by a one pound note and world coins including an 1861 HALF/HALP variety half penny in PCGS MS64BN and probably the finest known of this variety.
